About PCA

Meet the clinician behind PCA.

Patient Care Advocates was founded by Nathan Miller, PA-C, a cardiothoracic surgery physician assistant at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, licensed in Illinois and Wisconsin. Working in the ICU, on the surgical floor, and through countless discharges, he has seen how often patients and families leave important conversations confused, rushed, or unsure what to do next.

He started PCA to give patients and families the time, preparation, and clinical perspective that today's healthcare system rarely has room for.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What does a patient advocate do?

A patient advocate helps you get the most out of your healthcare. At PCA, an experienced clinician helps you prepare for appointments, attends with you to listen and ask questions, explains recommendations in plain language, helps coordinate care across providers, and gives you a clear written summary of next steps.

Do you replace my doctor?

No. PCA does not diagnose, treat, or prescribe, and we don't direct your medical treatment. Your physicians remain responsible for your care. Our role is to help you understand it, communicate clearly, and make well-informed decisions with them.

Where do you work? Can we meet virtually?

We serve Greater Milwaukee and the Chicago area. We can attend appointments in person or join virtually, and consultations and care coordination can happen by phone or video.

How much does it cost? Is it covered by insurance?

PCA is a private-pay service and doesn't bill insurance. Your first consultation is no-obligation, and we'll give you a clear estimate before any work begins. More about pricing.
